The Medjugorje International Youth Festival
For many years, Mary’s Meals has been invited to be a part of the programme at Mladifest Youth Festival. Inspirational testimonies from people whose lives have been changed in Medjugorje and who have gone on to become part of the Mary’s Meals movement are often shared on the stage during this time. In previous years, we have also had the honour of bringing young musicians who received our daily meals in school to share their talents at the festival.
Anniversary of the apparitions
The anniversary of the first apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Medjugorje, Bosnia-Hercegovina is celebrated on 25 June each year. On this day, special masses, processions and prayer vigils take place to commemorate the date on which the apparitions began in 1981.
Seminar for group leaders
Every March, Medjugorje hosts a seminar for group leaders, offering spiritual formation, resources and practical advice for leading pilgrimages to the site.
Christmas Mass
The church is packed for the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day masses, providing a profound sense of community and spiritual reflection.
New Year’s Eve Mass
At 10pm on 31 December, a special evening mass is held to celebrate the New Year in Medjugorje. This is a deeply spiritual occasion for pilgrims with special invitation to young people.
Annual family pilgrimage
Mary’s Meals is a fruit of prayer and, because of its roots and some of the way in which it has grown, it is often described as a fruit of Medjugorje. In recent years, Mary’s Meals’ founder Magnus and his wife Julie have hosted an annual pilgrimage to Medjugorje as a time to reflect, pray and give thanks for this mission.
