Emely and Shane Virostek’s journey of faith and service began while listening to the Abiding Together podcast. The stirring words of Heather Khym about the incredible work of Mary’s Meals ignited a spark within them. Recognizing the urgency and importance of this mission, Emely felt compelled to act, sharing her passion with her husband Shane. Just weeks before Christmas, they made a heartfelt decision to donate, planting the seeds for their involvement in Mary’s Meals mission.

Their pilgrimage to Medjugorje in February 2023 marked a pivotal moment in their journey. Visiting Mary’s Meals Information Center in Medjugorje, nicknamed Blue Container deepened their understanding of the charity’s mission. It was here they learned about the profound impact of providing daily meals to children, ensuring not just nourishment but also the chance for a brighter future through education. The anticipation to join a special Mary’ s Meals Family pilgrimage taking place in October became a guiding light for them.

When they returned to Medjugorje that October for Mary’s Meals Annual Family Pilgrimage, the experience was nothing short of divine. Over three days filled with prayer and reflection, they hiked Cross Mountain and met Magnus, the humble founder of Mary’s Meals, who spoke passionately about the role of faith and the grace of Mother Mary in the organization’s work. This encounter solidified their commitment to the cause.

Their journey illustrates the profound impact of faith in action, reminding us of the power of collective kindness in making the world a better place.
